From Royal Grace to Urban Pulse – A Guided Tour through Munich’s Old Town, Past & Present

Imagine you’re standing on Marienplatz. All around you is the buzz of the city, the ringing of bells, and the scent of fresh pretzels. This is exactly where our journey through Munich’s past and present begins.
We’ll wander through winding alleys and spacious squares, strolling through the lively Viktualienmarkt, where vendors have been hawking their wares for generations. We’ll visit the famous Hofbräuhaus, where kings, artists, and revolutionaries have left their mark, before continuing on to the Residenz and the Nationaltheater – a place full of splendor, drama, and grand emotions.
At Odeonsplatz, we feel history suddenly come very close. Here, facades tell of visions, power, and new beginnings. And as we move on, Munich reveals itself again and again from a new angle: sometimes royal, sometimes cozy, sometimes surprisingly modern.
In the Fünf Höfe, for example, tradition and the spirit of the times meet in an elegant way. And when we finally stand before the imposing Frauenkirche, it becomes clear: This city has many stories—and we’re taking some of them home with us now.
Look forward to Munich tales, charming anecdotes, and little discoveries along the way.
A tour for everyone who doesn’t just want to check Munich off a list, but to experience it: with open eyes, a smile, and the feeling of having gotten a little closer to the city.

Olympic Fever in Munich 20xx

Lightness, visions, and great sporting moments: On this tour, we immerse ourselves in the unique atmosphere of the Olympic Park and the 1972 Olympic Village—while also looking eagerly toward the future.
Amid iconic tent-roof architecture, expansive green spaces, and surprising nooks and crannies, we’re discussing the City of Munich’s bid for the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. The potential bids for the 2036, 2040, or 2044 Games are certainly a hot topic of conversation.
What’s really in the works? What opportunities lie ahead for Munich? Where do the challenges, cost concerns, and critical voices lie? Who are the competitors—and what are the next steps in the bidding process? On our roughly two-hour tour, we’ll shed light on the Olympic maze—in an accessible, up-to-date way, with plenty of room for your questions.
And don’t worry: there’s plenty of fun to be had, too. Little anecdotes from the past and present are the “treats” along the way, making the tour a real experience.
A guided tour for the curious, optimists, skeptics—and everyone who wants to know how Munich has made sports history and might just do so again. Informative, lively, and guaranteed to offer new perspectives on one of Munich’s most exciting urban landscapes.

A Royal Stroll – Nymphenburg Palace, the Palace Gardens, and lots of Horsepower

Experience the atmosphere of court life—without any dress code. Our tour of Nymphenburg Palace takes you into a world of Baroque splendor, sweeping garden avenues, and surprisingly vivid stories.
From the very first glance at the sprawling palace, it’s clear: they didn’t skimp here—they went all out. We’ll start by strolling through the magnificent interiors: from the impressive Stone Hall, where lavish celebrations were held, to the electoral and royal chambers, which offer glimpses into the daily life of the Wittelsbach family. Here, you can feel how power, style, and personal stories went hand in hand.
In the palace gardens, it’s time to take a deep breath and marvel. Amid winding paths, hidden park castles, and sparkling waterways, Munich reveals its most relaxed side. Here, people strolled, celebrated, and gossiped—and likely hatched the occasional royal scheme as well.
A real highlight is the horse-power-packed Marstallmuseum, where magnificent carriages, gleaming horse harnesses, and fascinating details from the world of imperial and royal riding and driving await us. Spoiler: It wasn’t any more comfortable than today’s subway—but definitely more stylish.
A guided tour for anyone who wants to experience Munich’s stately side outside the city center: relaxed, lively, with baroque splendor, royal stories, and plenty of room to marvel.

King Ludwig II: Fairy-tale King or Visionary Monarch?

You don’t necessarily have to travel all the way to Neuschwanstein to meet King Ludwig II (although you can;)). Even in Munich, the famous ‘Kini’ is surprisingly ever-present – if you know where to look.
Ludwig II is often described as an unworldly fairy-tale king who preferred to avoid his capital city. But on this city walk, we’ll discover a different side to him: the visionary, the passionate music lover, the champion of new technologies, and a king who shaped Munich and Bavaria more profoundly than many realise.
Together, we’ll set off on a journey of discovery through the city. We’ll visit places connected to his life: some magnificent and well-known, others hidden and surprising. In doing so, we immerse ourselves in 19th-century Munich, a time of upheaval, grand ideas and personal longings.
We discuss religion and royal power, technical innovations such as the modern water supply, art, the economy and, of course, Ludwig’s great passion – music. Along the way, a vivid picture emerges of a man torn between duty and dreams, between political reality and artistic vision.
And because there is always an air of mystery surrounding Ludwig II, we conclude by examining his enigmatic death. An event that continues to raise questions to this day and provides the stuff of legends.
A tour for anyone who wants to look behind the fairy-tale façade: exciting, moving and offering fresh perspectives on one of Bavaria’s most fascinating kings.

Enjoyment, Fun, and the Spirit of Munich: a Beer Tour through the Heart of Munich

Fancy a taste of history that’s anything but dry? Then join us on a guided tour that revolves entirely around Munich’s favourite drink: beer. Together, we’ll immerse ourselves in a world of tradition, enjoyment and plenty of that typical Munich spirit.
Our walk takes us through the Old Town to the origins of Munich’s beer culture. Even the Augustinian monks knew how to ‘capture heaven in a mug’ and in doing so laid the foundations for a success story that continues to this day.
We’ll hear why the Wittelsbachs once held a monopoly on wheat beer (spoiler: it wasn’t just about taste), how power, politics and thirst are sometimes surprisingly closely linked, and how a royal wedding quite incidentally gave rise to the world’s biggest folk festival: the Oktoberfest.
Yet beer in Munich remains not only a tradition, but also a topical issue. Whether it’s city politics, new trends or non-alcoholic alternatives: together we’ll take a look at how beer culture is evolving and why it continues to shape identity to this day.
Of course, it’s not just about listening, but also about enjoying: along the way, we’ll refuel with Bavarian classics like pretzels, white sausage and Obatzda and raise a glass in true style with a fresh lager. Those who wish to can also discover just how surprisingly ‘tasty’ non-alcoholic beer can be these days. Look forward to entertaining anecdotes, surprising insights and genuine Munich fun.
A tour brimming with character, culture and culinary delights: perfect for groups of friends, families or teams who want to experience Munich at its most enjoyable.

Fairytale Castles & Alpine Magic – A Day Trip to Neuschwanstein Castle

There are places you recognise from pictures and yet you’re still left speechless when you suddenly find yourself standing right in front of them. Neuschwanstein Castle is exactly that kind of place. And, of course, you simply ‘must’ see Neuschwanstein Castle (at least) once.
Our day trip takes you right into the heart of Bavaria’s picture-perfect landscape: past rolling hills and crystal-clear lakes, drawing ever closer to the Alps with every kilometre. The journey itself is an experience, relaxed, varied and peppered with stories about King Ludwig II and his life.
Along the way, we’ll make special stops – entirely according to your wishes – for example in the charming village of Oberammergau with its famous Lüftlmalereien. Here, every house seems to tell its own story. Or at the magnificent Wieskirche, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: prepare yourself for Baroque elegance in its finest form. A place that radiates tranquillity whilst leaving a lasting impression.
And then, suddenly, there it is: Neuschwanstein Castle. It sits majestically against the mountain backdrop, almost unreal, as if from a fairy tale. Yet behind the romantic façade lies more than just beauty: the story of a king, his dreams, his retreats and his vision of a world of his own.
Once there, you’ll have time to explore the castle on a guided tour, enjoy the view and simply let this special moment sink in. Because no matter how many times you’ve seen it: this sight moves you anew every single time.
On the way back, we’ll wind down the day in a relaxed atmosphere, perhaps with another stop, new impressions and the satisfying feeling of having truly experienced one of Bavaria’s most fascinating places.
A day trip brimming with nature, culture and powerful emotions for anyone who wants not just to see the world’s most famous castle, but to feel it.

Royal Dreams: Linderhof Palace & the Magic of a World Heritage Site

Some places seem as though they’ve been left behind by time. Linderhof Palace is just such a place: small, charming, whimsical and brimming with royal fantasy.
Your day trip takes you into the Alps, past lush meadows, dense forests and impressive mountain scenery. The journey itself is an experience: relaxed, varied and accompanied by stories about King Ludwig II and his world.
A first stop along the way could be the impressive Ettal Abbey. The Baroque abbey complex exudes tranquillity and strength. A place to arrive, take a deep breath and marvel.
Then we reach Linderhof Palace, the only palace that Ludwig II saw completed during his lifetime. Here, his love of detail is evident: magnificent rooms, golden ornamentation and a world that perfectly reflected his personal taste. Particularly fascinating is the legendary Venus Grotto, an artificial stalactite cave that creates a unique, almost magical atmosphere through light, water and imagination.
The extensive park also invites you to explore: artfully laid-out gardens, water features, exotic pavilions and ever-surprising views make every step a little adventure.
On the way back, a stop in picturesque Oberammergau is well worth it. Known for its Lüftlmalerei (facial murals) and the famous Passion Plays, the town combines tradition, craftsmanship and the Bavarian way of life in a very special way.
And as we drive back slowly, there is time to let all these impressions sink in: the natural surroundings, the stories, and the world of a king and an impressive World Heritage Site.
A day trip full of beauty, imagination and alpine magic for anyone who wants to experience Bavaria at its most fairy-tale-like.

Island Dreams & Royal Splendour – A Day Trip to Herrenchiemsee Palace

What a view across the water: Lake Chiemsee glistens (mostly) in the sun, the Alps loom on the horizon and suddenly everything feels a little more spacious, peaceful and free. It’s no wonder Lake Chiemsee is also known as the ‘Bavarian Sea’. And it’s a hit whatever the weather!
Even the crossing is an experience: we glide across the vast expanse of water by boat, past small islands and with ever-changing views until our destination slowly comes into view: Herreninsel.
There, Herrenchiemsee Palace awaits us, King Ludwig II’s homage to Versailles. And indeed: as you walk through the magnificent rooms, you immediately sense the grand stage the king created here. The famous Hall of Mirrors seems endless, chandeliers sparkle, and gilded ornaments speak of power, beauty and the dream of absolute monarchy.
In the adjoining King Ludwig II Museum, we delve even deeper: personal belongings, original garments, pictures and fascinating background stories bring the man behind the legend to life, caught between retreat, fantasy and reality.
After so much royal splendour, a quite different kind of magic awaits us: Fraueninsel. Here, everything moves at a slightly slower pace. Narrow lanes, blooming gardens, cosy cafés and Frauenwörth Abbey characterise the scene. Fishing boats bob gently against the shore, whilst artists and craftspeople lend the place its special atmosphere – almost like a small, lively village in the middle of the lake.
And time and again, that view of the water, the mountains, the vast expanse.
On the return journey, we let the impressions linger: the tranquillity of the lake, the splendour of the palace, the stories of a king and the special atmosphere of this unique landscape.
A day trip full of water, vastness and wonder, with royal history, vibrant culture and plenty of that Chiemsee feeling.
For history buffs: on the island of Herrenchiemsee, we can also visit the exhibition on the 1948 Constitutional Convention at the Augustinian Monastery (Old Castle) together and really feel the spirit of freedom and democracy.

Tours for Kids and Schools
A Journey through Time in Munich:
Hands-on City History for Elementary School Children

History doesn’t have to be dry. Especially when you’re right in the middle of it. On this city tour for elementary school classes, students discover Munich’s history where it actually happened: outdoors, among old walls, large churches, and exciting stories from the Middle Ages.
Starting at Marienplatz, the tour takes you on a journey back in time to the city’s founding: why Munich is actually called “Munich,” who was in charge here, and how loud, crowded, and busy it was in the Middle Ages. At the Taltor gate, it becomes clear why city walls were so important back then. The tour continues via Metzgerzeile to St. Peter’s Church and the Old Court, where the dukes resided. The “leap” to the Residenz is also a leap in time to the HSU topic of King Ludwig I.
The tour ends at the Frauenkirche, where children can marvel at towers, legends, and great buildings.
The tour is a mixture of things already learned at school and new experiences in the city. And with a little luck—and the right timing—we’ll make it to the carillon at City Hall afterwards.
The tour is child-friendly, lively, and with plenty of room for questions, laughter, and moments of discovery. Instead of theory, there are stories, comparisons to modern life, and lots of movement. And along the way, the children realize that history is actually quite exciting if you keep your eyes open.
Ideal for school classes, especially elementary school kids, who want to learn AND have fun at the same time.

Munich through the Ages – Let’s Dive into German History

The Middle Ages, electors, kings, revolutions, and world wars: Munich’s history is rich, contradictory, and relevant. This city tour for secondary schools focuses on precisely that: how Munich developed from a medieval trading center into a modern metropolis and how political decisions, upheavals, and crises continue to shape the cityscape to this day.
The starting point is Marienplatz with the town hall. Munich today: lively, touristy, political center. From there, we take a step-by-step journey back (and sometimes forward) through history. At the Frauenkirche, for example, we dive into the Middle Ages and talk about urban growth, power, and the church. The Kurt Eisner monument brings the First World War and the period of political upheaval to life: revolution, the end of the monarchy, and the beginning of a new era. In Viscardigasse, we discuss National Socialism, the Second World War, resistance, and civil courage—a place that tells history quietly but impressively. Other stops, such as the Theatinerkirche, represent the electoral period and the influence of European power politics, while the Residenz bridges the gap to the royal era and also opens up a view of the French Revolution and its effects on Bavaria.
The tour combines historical facts with discussion, context, and references to the present day. Like all our tours, this one is dialogue-oriented, age-appropriate, and relaxed, inviting students to not only hear about the city’s history, but to question, see, and experience it.
A city tour that provides an overview of German history, explains connections, and brings learning from the textbook directly into the urban space.
